Prevention of mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus in antenatal care and maternity services, Mozambique

Anne Loarec et al.

Summary: This study aimed to pilot an intervention for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in antenatal care. By integrating HBV screening into the existing program and implementing appropriate testing and treatment measures, the risk of HBV infection and transmission can be effectively reduced. Additionally, administering the HBV vaccine at birth is crucial for preventing HBV infection.

Global prevalence of hepatitis B virus serological markers among healthcare workers: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Gadji Mahamat et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the global prevalence of HBV serological markers among healthcare workers. A systematic review and meta-analysis found varying prevalence rates of HBV infection and immunity among HCWs in 71 countries, with higher infection rates in low-income countries, particularly in Africa. High immunization rates were observed in urban areas and in high-income countries in Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Western Pacific. New strategies are needed to improve awareness, training, screening, vaccination, post-exposure management and treatment of HBV infection in HCWs, especially in low-income regions.
