Online health information-seeking behaviour of patients attending a primary care clinic in Malaysia: a cross-sectional study

Summary: This study aimed to examine the prevalence and factors associated with online health information-seeking behavior among primary care patients in Malaysia. The findings showed that 54.7% of the patients used the internet to search for health information. Higher education levels, longer duration of internet use, and higher eHealth literacy were significantly associated with online health information-seeking behavior. Patients had lower trust in websites and social media compared to healthcare professionals.

Factors associated with eHealth literacy focusing on digital literacy components: A cross-sectional study of middle-aged adults in South Korea

Summary: This study aimed to identify the differences in digital literacy and eHealth literacy levels according to demographic features and elucidate the factors associated with eHealth literacy in middle-aged adults. The results showed that digital competence was the highest contributor to eHealth literacy, while digital skills did not significantly impact eHealth literacy. Furthermore, eHealth literacy was positively associated with increasing age, female gender, and higher education levels. Marital state, chronic disease, and frequency of internet use were not significantly associated with eHealth literacy.

The study found that although patients with diabetes who rated their health conditions as moderate were confident in using mobile eHealth and technology, few adopted these tools in their daily lives. Mobile eHL had a direct effect on self-care behavior as well as knowledge and skills of computers, the internet, and mobile technology, and had an indirect effect on health outcomes.
