In this study, a mode-switching-based method is proposed to improve the misalignment tolerance of wireless power transfer (WPT) system. The influence of misalignment on the coupling coefficient is analyzed through simulation, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified using a prototype.
In wireless power transfer (WPT) system, misalignment will significantly change the system output voltage or current, and affect the output stability. In order to solve this problem, a mode-switching-based method is proposed in this paper, which can significantly improve the misalignment tolerance of WPT system by using different driving mode for rectifier. This research reveals the working principle of mode switching of rectifier. The influence of misalignment on the coupling coefficient is studied by simulation, and the effectiveness of the proposed misalignment tolerance improvement method is verified. A prototype based on LCC/S compensation topology and planar square coupler is built. The output power of the prototype is constant at 100W, the efficiency of the positive time sampling machine is as high as 92.1%.
