A novel route to the synthesis of α-Fe2O3@C@SiO2/TiO2 nanocomposite from the metal-organic framework as a photocatalyst for water treatment

Seyedeh Elaheh Mousavi et al.

Summary: In this study, magnetic iron particles based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were synthesized as photocatalysts for textile dye wastewater treatment. A novel two-step dry method was used to synthesize Fe-MOFs derived magnetic carbon nanocomposite and alpha-Fe2O3@C@SiO2/TiO2. The as-synthesized nanocomposite materials showed enhanced photocatalytic activity and degradation efficiency for Reactive yellow 145 (RY145) dye. The study also provided insights into the structural characterization and reaction kinetics of the photocatalytic process.

Synthesis of Mg-Al layered double hydroxides-functionalized hydrochar composite via an in situ one-pot hydrothermal method for arsenate and phosphate removal: Structural characterization and adsorption performance

Kyung-Won Jung et al.

Summary: The Mg-Al LDHs-FHC composite was synthesized for efficient arsenate and phosphate removal from water. By adjusting the Mg:Al molar ratios and hydrothermal temperatures, the composite showed high removal efficiency for phosphate and arsenate in single-component and binary-component systems, respectively. Spectroscopic analyses indicated that competitive adsorption behavior was influenced by the physicochemical characteristics of arsenate and phosphate.

Investigation of the Adsorption Behavior of Organic Sulfur in Coal via Density Functional Theory (DFT) Calculation and Molecular Simulation

Yu Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the chemical adsorption behavior of O-2 on organic sulfur compounds in PAH sheets, finding that sulfone is more favorable for oxidation reactions. Significant charge transfer is observed between O-2 and organic sulfur compounds. The adsorption of O-2/CO2/N-2 is preferred on nitrogen/sulfur/oxygen-containing functional groups in coal to inhibit reactions with sulfur-containing coal.

Nickel-Cobalt Hydroxides with Tunable Thin-Layer Nanosheets for High-Performance Supercapacitor Electrode

Luomeng Zhang et al.

Summary: Nickel-cobalt layered double hydroxides with different urea contents were prepared using a simple one-step hydrothermal method, showing improved dispersibility and internal pore structures, leading to enhanced capacitance performance. The addition of urea was found to be crucial in regulating the nanostructures of the materials, resulting in ultra-high specific capacitance and high capacitance retention in supercapacitor applications. This research highlights the importance of urea in enhancing the performance of supercapacitor electrodes and offers a promising approach for developing high-performance supercapacitors.
