Plasmon-Exciton Interactions in Nanometer-Thick Gold-WSe2 Multilayer Structures: Implications for Photodetectors, Sensors, and Light-Emitting Devices

Fatemeh Davoodi et al.

Summary: Van der Waals materials such as TMDCs exhibit strongly bound exciton states in the visible spectrum, providing an ideal platform for exciton-photon couplings. Utilizing nanometer-thick semiconducting TMDCs combined with metals can significantly increase light-matter interaction. In gold-WSe2 multilayers, both exciton A and exciton B can strongly interact with surface-plasmon polaritons, leading to CL emission suppression and revealing energy transfer between excitons and plasmons in the form of nonradiating guided waves.

Tunneling Plasmonics: Vacuum Rabi Oscillations in Carbon Nanotube Mediated Electromigrated Nanojunctions

Arash Ahmadivand

Summary: This study explores the theoretical realization of strong coupling in integrated semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes and metallic nanoelectrodes, reaching deeply into the Purcell regime. Through quantitative analyses of emission and electroluminescence spectra, new energy levels formation and enhancements in exciton polaritons and the Purcell factor were confirmed. The findings pave the way for advancements in photonic, plasmonic, and optoelectronic applications based on exciton polaritons.

Summary: This study demonstrates the synthesis, structure, morphology, and optoelectronics/photonics properties of GaSe van der Waals nanoribbons obtained by Au- and Ag-catalyzed VLS growth. The GaSe ribbons grown at lower temperatures exhibit remarkably uniform morphology and low edge roughness. Photoluminescence spectroscopy shows intense, narrow light emission at the GaSe bandgap energy.
