This paper presents a design of a tunable suspended substrate stripline bandpass filter with constant absolute bandwidth. The method utilizes hybrid electromagnetic coupling to achieve constant bandwidth as the frequency varies. A tunable filter is designed to validate the method, which has a tunable center frequency and absolute bandwidth over the entire tuning range.
In this paper, a tunable suspended substrate stripline (SSL) bandpass filter (BPF) with constant absolute bandwidth (ABW) is presented. The filter consists of two symmetric SSL quarter-wavelength resonators with one end short-circuited and another one loaded with series varactor diodes to tune the resonant frequency. Using Hybrid electromagnetic coupling to adjust the coupling coefficient to achieve constant ABW when the frequency varies. A tunable SSL BPF is designed to validate the method, which has a tunable center frequency from 3 GHz to 4 GHz and 3-dB absolute bandwidth of 300 +/- 10 MHz over the entire tuning range.
