This paper proposes a radar variable scale processing method to achieve coherent integration, diversity detection, and reconstruction imaging at different scales. The method realizes scale transformation via multi-rate filter banks. Variable scale processing can resist range migration and use frequency diversity gain to find the optimal detection scale.
Although wideband radars offer the potential to improve radar signal processing, the ideal processing scale depends on the tasks and target characteristics. In this paper, a radar variable scale processing method is proposed to realize coherent integration, diversity detection, and reconstruction imaging at different scales. The proposed method realizes scale transformation via multi-rate filter banks. For coherent integration, variable scale processing can resist the range migration in the subbands first. Then the frequency diversity gain can be used to find an optimal detection scale for target detection. Furthermore, the reconstructed imaging can be accomplished by restoring the original signal's scale.
