Photo-electrochemical and ozonation process to degrade ciprofloxacin in synthetic municipal wastewater, using C, N-codoped TiO2 with high visible-light absorption

Daniela Palomares-Reyna et al.

Summary: Carbon, nitrogen-codoped TiO2 nanoroughness surfaces were successfully synthesized through electrochemical anodization. The 70 V-CN-TiNRS sample exhibited the best photoelectrochemical performance under Xe lamp radiation. PECO method showed the highest CIP removal efficiency in both distilled water and synthetic municipal wastewater.

Unrevealing the effect of transparent fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate and irradiance configuration to unmask the activity of FTO-BiVO4 heterojunction

J. E. Carrera-Crespo et al.

Summary: Three FTO-BiVO4 photoelectrodes were prepared with modified BiVO4 thickness, evaluating the impact of FTO substrate on the optical, electrical properties, and photoelectrochemical performance of the semiconductor. The analysis showed that back-side illumination under LED lamp achieved the highest photocurrent and better ciprofloxacin elimination compared to front-irradiation, indicating the importance of light source and configuration in enhancing the photoactivity of FTO-BiVO4.
