An Efficient Heterogeneous Edge-Cloud Learning Framework for Spectrum Data Compression

Guangyu Wu et al.

Summary: Spectrum data compression and accurate reconstruction are crucial for reducing ultra-large data transmission and establishing high-quality spectrum maps. Existing methods neglect the imbalanced edge-cloud resources and cannot handle outlier signals, posing challenges for effective compression. Therefore, we propose an efficient heterogeneous edge-cloud learning framework that compresses normal and outlier data distinctively based on their structure information. Our outlier-processable attention-based asymmetric compression algorithm shows improved convergence speed (120%) and reconstruction accuracy (68.42%) in interfered environments while maintaining superior compression speed and performance. We also demonstrate the framework's generalization ability across different spectrum tasks.

An Adaptive Modeling and Performance Evaluation Framework for Edge-Enabled Green IoT Systems

Sujit Bebortta et al.

Summary: The rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) has brought significant changes to the data acquisition and communication mechanisms of conventional IoT systems. Edge computing has emerged as a scalable and energy-efficient computing platform to meet the increasing demands for delay-tolerant service delivery in IoT applications. However, the large volume of data offloaded from low-powered IoT devices to the edge poses challenges in terms of traffic bottlenecks, latency, and energy wastage. This paper proposes a Local Data Reduction (LDR) framework that addresses latency issues and cost constraints, enabling energy-efficient processing of IoT data.

A data aggregation based approach to exploit dynamic spatio-temporal correlations for citywide crowd flows prediction in fog computing

Ahmad Ali et al.

Summary: Accurate and timely prediction of citywide traffic flow is crucial for public safety and traffic management in smart cities. While existing methods have leveraged LSTM and CNN to explore temporal and spatial relations separately, the proposed DHSTNet model combines both aspects and outperforms traditional statistical methods. The AAtt-DHSTNet model, which incorporates an attention mechanism, further enhances prediction accuracy compared to the DHSTNet technique.
