Measuring Positive Childhood Experiences: Testing the Structural and Predictive Validity of the Health Outcomes From Positive Experiences (HOPE) Framework

Shuaijun Guo et al.

Summary: This study used data from the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC) to represent and evaluate positive childhood experiences (PCEs) using the Health Outcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE) framework. The results showed that higher exposure to PCEs was associated with lower reporting of mental health problems and academic difficulties in adolescence.

Associations between Adverse Childhood Experiences and the novel inflammatory marker glycoprotein acetyls in two generations of the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children birth cohort

Daisy C. P. Crick et al.

Summary: The study found that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) were associated with the chronic inflammation marker GlycA in middle age, but not during adolescence. The total ACE score and emotional neglect were related to higher GlycA levels. Future research should further explore the role of inflammation in mediating the impact of ACEs on adverse health outcomes later in life.

Associations of Dietary Intake on Biological Markers of Inflammation in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review

Melissa Bujtor et al.

Summary: This study is the first systematic review on dietary intake and biological markers of inflammation in children and adolescents. The results show that a healthy diet high in vegetable and fruit intake, wholegrains, fibre and healthy fats can reduce inflammation, while a Western diet pattern and high sugar intake lead to higher levels of inflammation.

Resilience Protective Factors Checklist (RPFC): Buffering Childhood Adversity and Promoting Positive Outcomes

Kevin M. Powell et al.

Summary: This study examined the psychometrics of the Resilience Protective Factors Checklist (RPFC) and found good properties. The results supported a model with three interrelated areas of protective factors correlated with positive life outcomes. Family protective factors were shown to moderate the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and social relationships, guiding the development of positive social connections.
