Efficacy of 6% Sodium Hypochlorite on Infectious Content of Teeth with Symptomatic Irreversible Pulpitis

Rodrigo Arruda-Vasconcelos et al.

Summary: This study aimed to monitor the effects of chemomechanical preparation and intracanal medication on the levels of bacteria, endotoxins, and lipoteichoic acid in teeth with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. The results showed that chemomechanical preparation and intracanal medication effectively reduced the microbial load and levels of endotoxins and lipoteichoic acid in the root canals of the affected teeth.

Resolution of Nasal Sinus Tract after Endodontic Therapy: A Case Report with Microbial Analysis

Flavia G. R. Cardoso et al.

Summary: This case report describes the successful resolution of a 20-year misdiagnosed nasal sinus tract using multiple sessions of calcium hydroxide (Ca[OH](2)) intracanal medication during root canal therapy. The microbiota profiles of the sinus tract and paired root canal infection were similar, with a wide variety of gram-positive and -negative species involved. Root canal therapy with 21 days of Ca(OH)(2) medication was effective in disinfecting the root canal system and resolving the sinus tract.

Comparison of the effectiveness of single- and multiple-sessions disinfection protocols against endotoxins in root canal infections: systematic review and meta-analysis

Gustavo G. Nascimento et al.

Summary: This systematic review suggests that multiple-session disinfection protocols with the placement of Ca(OH)2 medications are more effective in reducing endotoxin levels from root canal infections compared to single-session treatments, especially when applied for 14 and 30 days.
