Lung ultrasound allows for earlier diagnosis of bronchiolitis than auscultation: an animal experiment and human case series
Paul Walsh et al.
Summary: This study demonstrates the potential of ultrasound for early diagnosis of bronchiolitis compared to clinical examination. The findings were observed in a bovine model and confirmed in a case series of human infants. However, alternative causes of abnormal ultrasound were common in the human cases.

Lung ultrasound in bronchiolitis
Domenico Paolo La Regina et al.
Summary: Our study aimed to correlate LUS score with clinical score, describe lung ultrasound findings in infants with bronchiolitis, and compare LUS findings with CXR. Results showed a positive correlation between LUS score and clinical score in bronchiolitis cases, with the presence of B-lines, subpleural consolidations, and abnormalities of the pleural line observed in cases but not in controls. A correlation between pleural line abnormalities with LUS and air trapping with CXR was identified in patients who underwent both exams.

Lung Ultrasound: Its Findings and New Applications in Neonatology and Pediatric Diseases
Elio Iovine et al.
Summary: Lung ultrasound is increasingly utilized in both adults and children for rapid evaluation of lung and pleura diseases, with advantages of low cost, rapidity, lack of radiation, bedside availability, and repeatability. Particularly valuable after the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, ultrasound can help identify the signs of interstitial lung syndrome typical of pneumonia caused by the virus.
