New bismuth oxyiodide/chitosan nanocomposite for ultrasonic waves expedited adsorptive removal of amoxicillin from aqueous medium: kinetic, isotherm and thermodynamic investigations

Kavya Bisaria et al.

Summary: The novel BiOI-Ch bionanocomposite exhibited superior adsorption capacity for AMX under ultrasonic waves, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 81.01 mg g(-1); under optimized conditions, the composite removed approximately 90% of AMX; the addition of biowaste chitosan to non-toxic bismuth-based nanoparticles, coupled with ultrasonication, improved the functional groups and surface area of the nanocomposite for enhanced adsorption capacity.

Phytotoxicity test in check: Proposition of methodology for comparison of different method adaptations usually used worldwide

Pablo Machado Mendes et al.

Summary: Seed germination tests are widely used to indicate toxicity levels in samples, with lettuce being a main indicative species due to its high sensitivity. However, there is a lack of standardization worldwide, leading to variations in phytotoxicity tests. The proposed methodology aims to compare these variations globally, providing a standardized approach for comparing phytotoxicity levels across regions.
