Construction of highly dispersed active sites in MoS2/CuS/C electrocatalyst based on organic-inorganic hybrid nanoflower for efficient hydrogen generation

Yunhua Zheng et al.

Summary: In the face of current energy and environment issues, it is significant to develop efficient and durable electrocatalysts for future renewable and clean energy production. In this study, a three-dimensional MoS2/CuS/C electrocatalyst with excellent hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance was designed and prepared. The catalyst exhibited high current density, low overpotential, small Tafel slope, good cycling performance, and structural stability. This work proposes a novel synthesis strategy using organic-inorganic hybrid material as substrate, which can be implemented for the synthesis of other composite catalysts in the field of energy conversion.

Abundant heterointerfaces in MOF-derived hollow CoS2-MoS2 nanosheet array electrocatalysts for overall water splitting

Yuanjian Li et al.

Summary: A metal-organic framework (MOF)-etching strategy was used to design free-standing and hierarchical hollow CoS2-MoS2 heteronanosheet arrays for both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The resulting CoS2-MoS2 heterostructure exhibited small overpotentials for both reactions, with enhanced electrocatalytic kinetics and durability, surpassing benchmark electrode couple composed of IrO2 and Pt/C.

Double sulfur vacancies by lithium tuning enhance CO2 electroreduction to n-propanol

Chen Peng et al.

Summary: Electrochemical CO2 reduction to valuable products like n-propanol is hindered by poor selectivities and low yields. Here, researchers demonstrate that double sulfur vacancies on hexagonal copper sulfide can serve as efficient electrocatalytic centers for stabilizing key intermediates, leading to high Faradaic efficiency towards n-propanol.

All-pH Stable Sandwich-Structured MoO2/MoS2/C Hollow Nanoreactors for Enhanced Electrochemical Hydrogen Evolution

Feilong Gong et al.

Summary: A novel design of MoO2/MoS2/C hollow nanoreactors with high electrocatalytic efficiency for hydrogen evolution over all pH values is reported. The introduction of sulfur vacancies on MoO2 substrates and the design of defective carbon shells enhance the stability of the electrocatalysts in acidic and alkaline media, showing potential for durable hydrogen evolution. The vacancy engineering can regulate the band structures, electron density differences, total density of states, and adsorption-dissociation ability of H* and H2O over the entire pH range, providing insights for the rational development of practical pH-universal electrocatalysts.
