Flexible Unsupervised Learning for Massive MIMO Subarray Hybrid Beamforming

Hamed Hojatian et al.

Summary: Hybrid beamforming is a promising technology to improve the energy efficiency of massive MIMO systems. Subarray hybrid beamforming, in particular, can further reduce power consumption by reducing the number of phase-shifters. However, designing the hybrid beamforming vectors is complex due to the discrete nature of subarray connections and phase-shift amounts. Therefore, we propose a novel unsupervised learning approach to address this problem.

Deep Learning-Based Hybrid Analog-Digital Signal Processing in mmWave Massive-MIMO Systems

Alireza Morsali et al.

Summary: In this paper, a general deep learning (DL) framework for efficient design and implementation of hybrid analog-digital signal processing (HSP) based massive-MIMO systems is presented. By developing a novel analog deep neural network (ADNN) structure and embedding it into an extended hybrid analog-digital deep neural network (HDNN) architecture, efficient implementation and improved performance of millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive-MIMO systems are achieved. Simulation results confirm the advantages of the proposed HDNN design over existing schemes.

Unsupervised Deep Learning for Massive MIMO Hybrid Beamforming

Hamed Hojatian et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel RSSI-based unsupervised deep learning method for designing hybrid beamforming in massive MIMO systems, along with methods for designing synchronization signals (SS) in initial access (IA) and designing codebooks for analog precoders. The system performance is evaluated through a realistic channel model in various scenarios, showing that the proposed method significantly improves spectral efficiency, especially in frequency-division duplex (FDD) communication with partial CSI feedback, and achieves near-optimal sum-rate compared to other state-of-the-art full-CSI solutions.
