The Impact of Whole-Body Cryotherapy on Endothelium Parameters in Patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the effect of whole-body cryotherapy (WBC) with subsequent exercise training or exercise-only training on endothelium inflammation parameters in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The results showed that the WBC group had significant decreases in hsCRP, sP-Selectin, sVCAM-1, and neopterin concentrations after treatment. Both groups showed significant decreases in LHP and lipofuscin levels and PON-1 activity after treatment, with the WBC group showing a higher drop in these parameters. Therefore, WBC therapy has a beneficial effect on endothelium parameters in AS patients and can be used in their treatment.

Effect of whole body cryotherapy on low back pain and release of endorphins and stress hormones in patients with lumbar spine osteoarthritis
