Lee-Yang zeros in the Rydberg atoms

Chengshu Li et al.

Summary: In this paper, the authors explore the Lee-Yang (LY) zeros in classical Rydberg blockade models, motivated by recent progress in cold Rydberg atom experiments. They find that the distribution of partition function zeros for these models in one dimension (1d) can be analytically obtained, and prove that all LY zeros are real and negative for models with arbitrary blockade radii. Therefore, no phase transitions occur in 1d classical Rydberg chains. The authors also investigate how these zeros redistribute as different blockade radii are interpolated, and discuss possible experimental measurements for these zeros.

Algebraic area enumeration for open lattice walks

Stephane Ouvry et al.

Summary: In this paper, we extend the operator method used for enumerating closed walks to calculate the number of open walks on a square planar lattice with fixed length and algebraic area. The open walk area is defined by closing the walks with a straight line across their endpoints, and can have half-integer values in lattice cell units. We also derive the counting methods for walks with endpoints on specific straight lines and discuss an approach for dealing with walks with fully fixed endpoints.

Entanglement of inhomogeneous free fermions on hyperplane lattices

Pierre-Antoine Bernard et al.

Summary: In this study, an inhomogeneous model of free fermions on a (D - 1)-dimensional lattice with D(D - 1)/2 continuous parameters controlling hopping strength between adjacent sites is introduced. The model is solved exactly and the eigenfunctions are found to be multidimensional generalizations of Krawtchouk polynomials. The entanglement entropy is computed numerically for D = 2, 3, 4 with a wide range of parameters. Oscillations in the sub-leading contribution to the entanglement entropy are observed for D = 2, and a conjecture of an exact expression is made. Logarithmic violations of the area law for the entanglement entropy with nontrivial dependence on the parameters are found for D > 2.

Generalised Onsager algebra in quantum lattice models

Yuan Miao

Summary: This paper introduces the importance of the Onsager algebra in solving exactly solvable models in statistical mechanics and demonstrates its relations to other algebras. The authors propose a series of quantum lattice models as representations of the generalised Clifford algebra and show their integrability similar to the eight-vertex model. Furthermore, they mention further extensions of the models and physical properties related to the generalised Onsager algebras.

Free Fermions Behind the Disguise

Samuel J. Elman et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a valuable method for probing the physics of a quantum many-body spin system by mapping it to noninteracting effective fermions. Utilizing the frustration graph G of a Hamiltonian H, a free-fermion solution can be constructed under certain conditions, even without the existence of a Jordan-Wigner transformation. This generic solution method is efficient for any values of the couplings, and the solvability of a spin model using this approach can be recognized in polynomial time.

Summary: An algebraic generalization of the Jordan-Wigner transformation has been introduced and applied to one- and two-dimensional systems. It has been found that operators composed of eta(i) satisfy the Dolan-Grady condition and obey the Onsager algebra.

Entanglement entropy of inhomogeneous XX spin chains with algebraic interactions

Federico Finkel et al.

Summary: This study introduces a family of inhomogeneous XX spin chains and investigates the asymptotic approximation of Renyi entanglement entropy under constant magnetic field at half filling. The results show a good agreement with numerical calculations and also highlight the behavior in non-standard scenarios.

Integrable spin chains and cellular automata with medium-range interaction

Tamas Gombor et al.

Summary: The article studies integrable spin chains and quantum and classical cellular automata with interaction range l ≥ 3, developing an algebraic framework for such models and proposing a new integrability condition. A partial classification is performed in specific cases, uncovering some potentially new models. Additionally, integrability of Rule150 and Rule105 models with three-site interactions is demonstrated, along with the presentation of integrable quantum deformations.

Powerful method to evaluate the mass gaps of free-particle quantum critical systems

Francisco C. Alcaraz et al.

Summary: In this study, a numerical method for evaluating mass gaps and low-lying energy gaps of free-fermionic and free-parafermionic quantum chains is proposed, and its effectiveness is demonstrated through examples involving Ising quantum chains with uniform and random coupling constants. The use of the Laguerre bound as an initial guess for the largest root in the method is shown to provide accurate estimates for mass gaps sharing similar finite-size behavior as exact results. Additionally, the method is compared with the strong-disorder renormalization-group method in terms of computational efficiency and accuracy.

Free-parafermionic Z(N) and free-fermionic XY quantum chains

Francisco C. Alcaraz et al.

Summary: The relationship between the eigenspectrum of Ising and XY quantum chains is well understood in terms of freefermionic quasiparticles. A new family of XY models with N-multispin interactions is introduced in this paper, where the eigenspectra are given in terms of combinations of Z(N) free-parafermionic quasienergies. The correspondence between Z(N) free-parafermionic models and related XY models is established through the identification of characteristic polynomials.
