The P300 event related potential predicts phonological working memory skills in school-aged children

Vanessa Harwood et al.

Summary: In this study, the predictive role of P300 event-related potential (ERP) in phonological working memory (PWM) skills was investigated. The results showed that the P300 ERP in response to native phoneme contrasts can predict nonword repetition ability. However, the response to non-native contrasts was not significant and was unrelated to English nonword repetition performance.

ERP Mismatch Negativity Amplitude and Asymmetry Reflect Phonological and Rapid Automatized Naming Skills in English-Speaking Kindergartners

Elizabeth S. Norton et al.

Summary: The amplitude of MMN may be related to phonological representations and the ability to manipulate them, while MMN laterality may reflect differences in brain processes that support the automaticity needed for reading.
