High pressure phase behavior of ternary system (carbon dioxide plus globalide plus dichloromethane) at different dichloromethane to globalide mass ratios

Sabrina de Quadros et al.

Summary: Globalide is a compound commonly used in the fragrance industry, but its application as a monomer for biomedical applications has attracted attention in the scientific community. In this study, we evaluated the phase behavior of a ternary system containing carbon dioxide and dichloromethane under high pressures. It was found that dichloromethane can effectively reduce the solubilization pressure of the system as a co-solvent. Thermodynamic modeling using the Peng Robinson equation with van der Waals biparametric quadratic mixing rule showed satisfactory agreement with the experimental data.

Coating of SPIONs with a Cysteine-Decorated Copolyester: A Possible Novel Nanoplatform for Enzymatic Release

Jeovandro Maria Beltrame et al.

Summary: In this study, a biocompatible copolyester was synthesized and used to coat SPIONs, which were modified with cysteine to achieve specific interactions with tumor cells. Folic acid and the anti-cancer drug methotrexate were successfully conjugated to the nanoparticle surface, and the release of methotrexate was successfully triggered. Therefore, the SPION@PGlCLCys has a strong potential to be a model nanoplatform for less aggressive treatments and diagnosis techniques.

High-pressure phase equilibrium data for the ternary and quaternary systems containing carbon dioxide, globalide, e-caprolactone dichloromethane

Anderson C. Dutra et al.

Summary: Polymers, which are widely used in modern society, are mainly made from non-renewable petroleum-derived monomers, resulting in pollution. Therefore, it is important to find biodegradable polymers that can be produced and disposed of without generating pollutants. The use of supercritical carbon dioxide instead of organic solvents has shown to be a greener alternative for polymerization processes.

High-pressure phase behavior of the quaternary system (carbon dioxide plus dichloromethane plus ε-caprolactone plus poly(ε-caprolactone): Experimental data and PC-SAFT modeling

Nilson G. O. Santos et al.

Summary: The phase behavior of a system containing carbon dioxide, dichloromethane, epsilon-caprolactone, and poly(epsilon-caprolactone) was studied, revealing vapor-liquid bubble point type and liquid-liquid phase transitions. The experiments were performed using a variable-volume view cell over a temperature range, and the results were modeled using the PC-SAFT EoS with positive representation of the experimental phase equilibrium data.

Phase behaviour and thermodynamic modelling of the ternary system (carbon dioxide plus ε-caprolactone plus chloroform)

Davi G. L. Girardi et al.

Summary: The study focused on the high pressure phase behavior of the ternary system involving carbon dioxide, epsilon-caprolactone, and chloroform, providing crucial information for polymerization reactions in supercritical medium. Experimental observations included vapor-liquid bubble point and dew point transitions, with modeling done using the Peng-Robinson equation of state.
