Thermal runaway propagation characteristics and preventing strategies under dynamic thermal transfer conditions for lithium-ion battery modules

Fibrous Separator with Surface Modification and Micro-Nano Fibers Lamination Enabling Fast Ion Transport for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Summary: Appropriate materials and reasonable structure can significantly improve the performance of separators for lithium-ion batteries. In this study, a composite separator with excellent overall performance was developed by modifying polyethylene terephthalate microfibers and laminating a polyvinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene nanofiber layer. The obtained separator exhibits high porosity, hierarchical structure, wettability, mechanical strength, thermal shutdown function, and enhanced lithium ion transport ability. The cycling stability is superior with a capacity retention of 93% after 200 cycles, making it a promising candidate for lithium-ion batteries.
