The central role of a two-way positive feedback pathway in molecular targeted therapies-mediated pyroptosis in anaplastic thyroid cancer

Qiwu Zhao et al.

Summary: This study focused on the clinical significance, regulatory role, and underlying mechanisms of pyroptosis in anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC). The results demonstrated that the combination of apatinib and melittin could synergistically achieve a comparable therapeutic potential through pyroptosis. Furthermore, the study proposed a two-way positive feedback interaction between caspase-1-GSDMD and caspase-3-GSDME axes in ATC.

Alternative Strategy to Optimize Cerium Oxide for Enhanced X-ray-Induced Photodynamic Therapy

Shikai Liu et al.

Summary: The versatile core-shell radiosensitizer (SSCP) was designed to enhance X-ray-induced photodynamic therapy (X-PDT) by perfectly absorbing ultraviolet light and generating reactive oxygen species (ROS). The addition of cerium oxide further improves the efficiency of radiotherapy. SSCP also shows great potential in preclinical imaging and clinical translation.

A Drug-Free Therapeutic System for Cancer Therapy by Diselenide-Based Polymers Themselves

Chao Wei et al.

Summary: A novel drug-free therapeutic system utilizing synthetic polymers themselves shows effective and broad-spectrum anticancer activities with high selectivity towards cancer cells, which can be controlled by tuning the selenium contents. Mechanistic investigation reveals that the system can induce cancer cells to express excessive reactive oxygen species, leading to cellular apoptosis.

Cost-effectiveness of precision diagnostic testing for precision medicine approaches against non-small-cell lung cancer: A systematic review

Raymond Henderson et al.

Summary: Precision diagnostic testing for non-small-cell lung cancer was evaluated for cost-effectiveness, revealing that 53% of scenarios were cost-effective, and all scenarios comparing PDT-guided therapy with therapy for all patients were cost-effective. However, 81% of the studies analyzed had poor design, indicating the need for more robust health economic evaluations.
