Layer-dependent optical and dielectric properties of centimeter-scale PdSe2 films grown by chemical vapor deposition

MingYang Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, high-quality continuous centimeter-scale PdSe2 films were successfully grown using Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) method. The absorption spectra and DFT calculations revealed that the bandgap of the PdSe2 films decreased with the increasing number of layers, and the films exhibited layer-dependent optical and dielectric properties. Furthermore, the effect of temperature on the optical properties of PdSe2 films was observed, and the thermo-optical coefficients were calculated for films with different numbers of layers.

Layer-Tunable Nonlinear Optical Characteristics and Photocarrier Dynamics of 2D PdSe2 in Broadband Spectra

Chenyu Ye et al.

Summary: Researchers demonstrated the broadband giant nonlinear optical performance and ultrafast excited carrier dynamics of 2D PdSe2 films by controlling the layer number, revealing the layer-dependent and wavelength-dependent evolution of optical bandgap, nonlinear absorption, and photocarrier dynamics. The transition from semiconducting to semimetallic PdSe2 induced dramatic changes in their interband absorption-relaxation process, making 2D PdSe2 more competitive for future ultrafast photonics and opening up new avenues for optimizing the optical performance of various 2D materials through rational design.

Thickness-dependent ultrafast charge-carrier dynamics and coherent acoustic phonon oscillations in mechanically exfoliated PdSe2 flakes

Chang-Fu Huo et al.

Summary: The study investigates the photoexcited-carrier dynamics and coherent acoustic phonon oscillations in PdSe2 flakes of various thicknesses, revealing that the CAP frequency is thickness-dependent and the deformation potential mechanism dominates the generation of the CAP. The results provide insight into the ultrafast optical coherent acoustic phonon and optoelectronic properties of PdSe2, suggesting new possibilities for PdSe2 applications in THz-frequency mechanical resonators.
