Effect of Administration of Selenium Nanoparticles Synthesized Using Onion Extract on Biochemical and Inflammatory Parameters in Mice Fed with High-Fructose Diet: In Vivo and In Silico Analysis

Fernando Martinez-Esquivias et al.

Summary: The consumption of fructose has been linked to obesity, insulin resistance, and diabetes. However, selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) have been found to regulate glucose and lipid concentrations and have immune-regulating properties. In this study on mice, SeNPs were shown to regulate biochemical parameters, exhibit anti-inflammatory effects, and had no harmful effects on organs. In addition, bioinformatics analysis supported the findings and suggested that SeNPs regulate oxidative stress and metabolic pathways to counteract the negative effects of fructose consumption.

The therapeutic mechanism of Yuye decoction on type 2 diabetes mellitus based on network pharmacology and experimental verification

Feng Guo et al.

Summary: This study systematically explored the potential mechanism of Yuye decoction (YYD) against type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) using UHPLC-MS/MS, network pharmacology, molecular docking, and experimental validation. The results suggest that YYD may prevent pancreatic islet dysfunction and reverse β-cell apoptosis through PI3K/AKT1 and Sirt1/FoxO1 signaling pathways. This study provides scientific evidence for the clinical application of YYD in the treatment of T2DM.

γ-Linolenic Acid-Rich Oil- and Fish Oil-Induced Alterations of Hepatic Lipogenesis, Fatty Acid Oxidation, and Adipose Tissue mRNA Expression in Obese KK-Ay Mice

Takashi Ide

Summary: A study compared the physiological activity of GLA-rich evening primrose oil and EPA and DHA-rich fish oil in obese diabetic mice. The oils significantly increased hepatic fatty acid oxidation enzymes and carnitine transporter levels in the liver compared to palm oil. Both oils reduced hepatic lipogenesis and triacylglycerol levels, with fish oil showing a stronger effect. Fish oil also had a greater impact on adipocyte proteins and serum glucose levels. Both oils were effective in ameliorating metabolic disorders related to obesity and diabetes mellitus.
