A novel ratiometric fluorescent probe for detection of dopamine and cupric ions

Jingjing Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, fluorescent protein nanoparticles were synthesized using bovine serum albumin, which were then used as a template to create silver nanoclusters stabilized by protein. These nanoparticles were able to detect dopamine and cupric ions with distinct fluorescence emission peaks at 470 nm and 670 nm, providing a ratiometric probe for their detection.

Fast responsive colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescence chemoprobe based on a 1,8-naphthalimide for nM recognition of Cu2+ and its application in real food and drinkable water samples

Fatma Nur Arslan et al.

Summary: In this research, a novel colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescence chemoprobe (NAPH) based on 1,8-naphthalimide was developed for the recognition of copper (II) in different vegetables and drinkable water samples. NAPH exhibited a ratiometric turn-on fluorescent response and a colorimetric response towards Cu2+ with low detection limit. It showed excellent selectivity towards Cu2+ without interference from other metal ions, anions, and amino acids. The study also validated the spectral data of NAPH and demonstrated its potential as a powerful tool for Cu2+ monitoring using a smartphone.

A phenothiazine-based turn-on fluorescent probe for the selective detection of hydrogen sulfide in food, live cells and animals

Yaoyun Hu et al.

Summary: A phenothiazine-based fluorescent probe (PR) has been developed for the selective detection of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in biosystems and monitoring H2S produced in the food spoilage process. PR showed high selectivity and sensitivity, low cytotoxicity, and reliability at physiological pH. The probe was successfully applied for the visualization of exogenous and endogenous H2S in living cells and live animals, as well as for monitoring H2S production in an inflammation model.
