Ball-milled Ni2P/g-C3N4 for improved photocatalytic hydrogen production

Yutong Xiao et al.

Summary: Transition metal phosphides (TMPs) are promising alternatives to expensive cocatalysts. In this study, the structure-activity relationships between Ni2P and g-C3N4 were explored, revealing that Ni2P can substantially enhance the photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4 for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Loading 3% Ni2P on g-C3N4 through ball milling resulted in a 9-fold increase in HER performance compared to pristine g-C3N4. Ni2P played a dual role as trapping sites for photoinduced electrons and reactive centers for hydrogen evolution due to its high work function and low HER overpotential. This work provides insights into the design of efficient TMPs for enhanced HER through simple synthesis methods.

Catalytic Conversion of Styrene to Benzaldehyde over S-Scheme Photocatalysts by Singlet Oxygen

Chang Cheng et al.

Summary: This study constructed a series of pyrene-alt-dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide (P16PySO)/tungsten trioxide (WO3) composites to investigate the mechanism of photocatalytic styrene oxidation under anaerobic and aerobic conditions. The S-scheme charge transfer pathway within P16PySO/WO3 was systematically analyzed. The results revealed that triplet oxygen (O-3(2)) could efficiently trap the energy of triplet excited P16PySO through an energy transfer process and convert to singlet oxygen (O-1(2)), which played an important role in styrene oxidation.

Efficient photocatalysis of Cu doped TiO2/g-C3N4 for the photodegradation of methylene blue

Heshan Liyanaarachchi et al.

Summary: The release of dyes into water reservoirs is a significant environmental problem, and finding methods to remove such dyes is crucial. In this study, a novel photocatalyst, Cu-doped TiO2 coupled with g-C3N4 (Cu-TiO2/g-C3N4), was successfully fabricated by hydrothermal method at different weight percentages. The synthesized Cu-TiO2/g-C3N4 photocatalysts showed high degradation efficiency for methylene blue under UV and visible light, with Cu-TiO2/50% g-C3N4 exhibiting the highest rate constant. Therefore, Cu-TiO2/g-C3N4 can effectively degrade methylene blue.

Review on g-C3N4-based S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts

Yunfeng Li et al.

Summary: With the rapid development of economy and modern industry, serious environmental pollution and energy shortage have become major urgent challenges to the human society. Photocatalysis is a promising technology to provide green energy. However, the limitations of g-C 3 N 4 , such as fast recombination of charges, limited light response range, and weak oxidation ability, restrict its photocatalytic performance. The construction of heterojunctions with g-C 3 N 4 and other semiconductor materials can effectively address these issues and improve the photocatalytic performance.
