Giant chirality-induced spin selectivity of polarons

Dan Klein et al.

Summary: The chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect leads to spin-dependent transport through organic molecules and structures. The discovery of this effect raises fundamental questions and potential applications. The paper shows that the energy scale for CISS is much larger in currents carried by polarons, in the presence of strong electron-phonon coupling. Polaron fluctuations play a crucial role in the manifestations of CISS in transport measurements.

Half-Heusler thermoelectric materials

Kaiyang Xia et al.

Summary: Half-Heusler compounds with 18 valence electrons are considered promising high-temperature thermoelectric materials, while nominal 19-electron compounds have gained popularity due to their unexpected high performance. The focus is now on the discovery and challenges of cation-deficient 19-electron half-Heusler compounds with vacancy-related short-range order, offering insights into defect-tailored thermoelectric properties.

Spinterface Origin for the Chirality-Induced Spin-Selectivity Effect

Seif Alwan et al.

Summary: This study presents a theory for the CISS effect based on the interplay between spin-orbit interactions in the electrode, the chirality of the molecule, and spin-transfer torque at the molecule-electrode interface. The theory can qualitatively account for key experimental observations and provides a set of predictions that can be readily tested experimentally.
