Fabrication of toughest and transparent electrospun nylon 6 nanofiber-reinforced PVA composites

Vishal Gavande et al.

Summary: In this study, void-free composites of electrospun nylon 6 nanofibers were manufactured as reinforcement for the poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix using solution impregnation and filtration methods. The introduction of nylon 6 nanofiber mats as reinforcement synergistically improved mechanical efficiency for the PVA matrix. Optimal enhancement in ultimate tensile stress and tensile modulus was achieved by sacrificing elongation in the composite films with a 15 wt% polymer solution.

Guannan Geng et al.

Summary: The study found that emission controls avoided approximately 870,000 deaths in China between 2002 and 2017, but further improvements in air quality require energy-climate policies and changes in economic structure. Analysis showed that end-of-pipe control policies significantly reduced PM2.5-related deaths in China, with mandated emission control technologies avoiding nearly three-quarters of the deaths that would have occurred due to increased economic activity.
