Rapid microwave fabrication of new nanocomposites based on Tb-Co-O nanostructures and their application as photocatalysts under UV/Visible light for removal of organic pollutants in water

Pourya Mehdizadeh et al.

Summary: A novel and stable Tb-Co-O nanocomposite photocatalyst was synthesized through a one-pot microwave route and exhibited excellent photocatalytic efficiency in wastewater treatment. The nanostructures possessed narrow size distribution, good optical properties, and unique crystal structures. Among various experimental conditions, TbCoO3/TbO1.81 nanocomposites with a molar ratio of 1:3 (Tb:Co) showed the best performance in dye degradation.

S100A8/A9 in COVID-19 pathogenesis: Impact on clinical outcomes

Leah Mellett et al.

Summary: COVID-19 has a broad range of clinical manifestations, and there is a need for specific diagnostic tools to predict disease severity. S100A8/A9 has been proposed as a potential biomarker for COVID-19, as it can distinguish between mild and severe disease states. Understanding the role of S100A8/A9 in immune responses during inflammatory diseases is necessary to evaluate its candidacy as a potential COVID-19 biomarker.

Th17 CD4+T-Cell as a Preferential Target for HIV Reservoirs

Constance Renault et al.

Summary: Th17 cells play a crucial role in defending against pathogens at mucosal barriers, but they are also vulnerable to HIV-1 infection and depletion from gut mucosal sites. The imbalance caused by the loss of Th17 cells impairs cytokine production and leads to damage in the gut mucosal barrier, promoting HIV-1 disease progression. The expression of specific receptors by Th17 cells contributes to their susceptibility to HIV infection. Moreover, Th17 cells serve as long-lived viral reservoirs in HIV patients receiving antiretroviral therapy.

Green synthesis of DyBa2Fe3O7.988/DyFeO3 nanocomposites using almond extract with dual eco-friendly applications: Photocatalytic and antibacterial activities

Makarim A. Mahdi et al.

Summary: In this study, photocatalytical and antibacterial activities of DyBa2Fe3O7.988/DyFeO3 (Dy-Ba-Fe-O) nanocomposites were investigated as eco-friendly applications. The synthesis method chosen was ultrasound technique to ensure low energy consumption and achieve a pure product with good crystallinity. Natural almond core extract was used as a green reagent. The nanocomposite exhibited a band gap of 2.6 eV, enabling visible-light photocatalysis. Significant degradation of Rhodamin-B dye and strong antibacterial activity against Gram-negative pathogens were observed. The properties of the nanocomposite were characterized by various analyses.
