Cytotoxic and genotoxic properties of silver nanoparticles synthesized by ethanolic extract of Salacia chinensis

Summary: In this study, the cytotoxicity and genotoxicity properties of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) made from a crude ethanolic extract of Salacia chinensis were evaluated using in vitro and in vivo methods. The results showed that the test Ag-NPs did not exhibit cytotoxicity on fibroblast cell line and genotoxic activity on CHO cell line. The in vivo study in Swiss albino mice further confirmed the lack of genotoxicity of the Ag-NPs.

These oxidase-like nanzymes were successfully applied for the determination of total antioxidant capacity in various samples. Immediate intervention with intravenous albumin and fluids is crucial to restore normal blood volume and tissue oxygenation.

PLA-PEG blend nanocomposite films were prepared with different ratios of MNP. The films were studied using ATR-IR, TGA, DSC, SEM, and VSM to analyze their thermal stability, morphology, magnetic behavior, and shape memory properties. The antimicrobial activity of the films was also compared. The results showed that MNP increased thermal stability and inhibited microbial growth.

Moreover, these micelles had higher cellular uptake rates and cytotoxicity, resulting in better tumor inhibition compared to free drugs. Therefore, the prepared targeting nanodrug has great potential for antitumor therapy.

Green Synthesis of Bioinspired Nanoparticles Mediated from Plant Extracts of Asteraceae Family for Potential Biological Applications

Summary: The Asteraceae family, with its rich phytochemicals, is widely used for traditional and medicinal purposes. These plants have found applications in various biological fields and nanotechnology. The synthesized nanoparticles from Asteraceae plants are stable, inexpensive, non-toxic, and eco-friendly, and have extensive applications in antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, anticancer, antidiabetic, and photocatalytic activities. This review provides an opportunity to understand the recent trend in green synthesis of advanced nanoparticles and discusses the extraction methods, synthesis, characterization, and potential applications of Asteraceae-mediated nanoparticles for human welfare. Constraints and future prospects for green synthesis of nanoparticles from Asteraceae family are summarized.

CeO2@NC nanozyme with robust dephosphorylation ability of phosphotriester: A simple colorimetric assay for rapid and selective detection of paraoxon

Summary: Enzyme-mediated dephosphorylation is a crucial method for inactivating and detecting hazardous phosphate chemicals. In this study, a novel CeO2@NC nanozyme with excellent phosphatase-like activity was developed based on substrate synergistic effect. This nanozyme can rapidly dephosphorylate phosphotriester under mild conditions and maintain over 80% optimal activity even in harsh conditions. Additionally, a simple colorimetric assay for the rapid and selective detection of paraoxon was also developed. Overall, this work not only provides a highly efficient nanozyme for enzyme-mediated dephosphorylation, but also offers a new avenue for rapid detection of organophosphorus pesticides.

Green synthesis of Ag nanoparticles using elm pod polysaccharide for catalysis and bacteriostasis

Summary: Artificial nanozymes are designed to achieve superb catalytic efficiency and selectivity surpassing natural enzymes, while maintaining higher stability. This technology has been widely applied at the intersection of nanotechnology and biomedicine. By utilizing nanostructure engineering, N-doping, and carbon coating, a Co@N-CNTs hybrid nanocomposite was fabricated to mimic oxidase activity, demonstrating excellent selectivity and sensitivity for detecting ascorbic acid.
