Effects of surface roughness on interfacial dynamic recrystallization and mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-3Nb-2Zr-1Mo alloy joints produced by hot-compression bonding

Bijun Xie et al.

Summary: Surface roughness affects the interfacial dynamic recrystallization kinetics and mechanical properties of hot-compression bonding joints of Ti-6Al-3Nb-2Zr-1Mo. Rough surfaces lead to the formation of elongated grains with lower elongation compared to polished surfaces. A rotational dynamic recrystallization mechanism is proposed to explain the formation of fine interfacial recrystallization grains during bonding of rough surfaces.

The dual effect of grain size on the strain hardening behaviors of Ni-Co-Cr-Fe high entropy alloys

Xiaorong Liu et al.

Summary: Grain size plays a critical role in the strain hardening behaviors of high entropy alloys (HEAs) by affecting twinning-induced plasticity and dislocation-based deformation. Increasing grain size leads to a transition of dislocation glide mode and influences strain hardening rate. These findings have important implications for understanding the strain hardening behaviors in other face-centered-cubic HEAs.

Deformation micro-twinning arising at high temperatures in a Ni-Co-based superalloy

Zijian Zhou et al.

Summary: Deformation twinning is an important mechanism in nickel-based superalloys. In this study, the formation of microtwins at high temperatures in Ni-Co-based superalloys was investigated using transmission electron microscopy. The results showed that the formation of microtwins at high temperatures can be attributed to the low stacking fault energy and poor dislocation-driven deformations caused by the high strain rate in specific directions.

Microstructural evolution of a Ni-Co based superalloy during hot compression at γ′ sub-/super-solvus temperatures

Peng Liu et al.

Summary: The effects of strain rate on the microstructural evolution and deformation mechanism of a Ni-Co based superalloy were investigated through isothermal compression tests. It was found that the primary gamma' particles played a significant role in accelerating and retarding dynamic recrystallization (DRX), while discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX) was identified as the dominant mechanism.

A Review on Rotary and Linear Friction Welding of Inconel Alloys

V. Ajay et al.

Summary: Inconel alloys are a preferred material for high temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical and non-corrosion properties. Friction welding, as a solid state welding process, is known for producing high-quality welds and joining dissimilar metals effectively. Studies on friction welding of Inconel alloys focus on microstructural and mechanical properties of similar and dissimilar weld joints.
