Improving fast-timing time-walk calibration standards: Lifetime measurement of the 2+1 state in 152Gd

L. Knafla et al.

Summary: A 152Eu source was measured for 28 days using an experimental setup that included four LaBr3(Ce) detectors and a CAEN V1730 digitizer. The new measurement of the lifetime of the 2+1 (344 keV) state in 152Gd is r(2+1) = 46.9(3) ps, which has reduced the uncertainty by an order of magnitude compared to the previous result. This improved lifetime is important for electronic fast-timing lifetime measurements and has implications for the systematic correction procedure and measurements in the low picosecond regime.

Configuration mixing and intertwined quantum phase transitions in odd-mass niobium isotopes

N. Gavrielov

Summary: In this paper, a new algebraic framework called the interacting boson-fermion model with configuration mixing is introduced to investigate the structural evolution of odd-mass niobium isotopes. The results of the calculation are compared with experimental data, and the effects of both Type II and Type I quantum phase transitions are analyzed.

Mixed configurations and intertwined quantum phase transitions in odd-mass nuclei

N. Gavrielov et al.

Summary: We introduce a new Bose-Fermi framework to study spectral properties and quantum phase transitions in odd-mass nuclei with configuration mixing. The detailed analysis of odd-mass Nb isotopes reveals the effects of abrupt crossing of states in normal and intruder configurations (Type II QPT), accompanied by a gradual evolution from spherical to deformed-core shapes within the intruder configuration (Type I QPT). The coexistence of both types of QPTs demonstrates the occurrence of intertwined QPTs in odd-mass nuclei for the first time.

Zr isotopes as a region of intertwined quantum phase transitions

N. Gavrielov et al.

Summary: We investigated the structural evolution of zirconium isotopes using the concept of intertwined quantum phase transitions (IQPTs). Our detailed calculation based on the interacting boson model with configuration mixing (IBM-CM) showed good agreement with experimental data, demonstrating the relevance of IQPTs in zirconium isotopes. This study can serve as a case study for future investigations of IQPTs in other nuclei and physical systems.
