Application of stable isotope and mineral element fingerprint in identification of Hainan camellia oil producing area based on convolutional neural networks

Jiashun Fu et al.

Summary: Camellia oil from Hainan, China, is a unique high-end woody edible vegetable oil that is recognized for its unique quality and high value. To protect its authenticity, we explored the potential of stable isotopes and mineral elements for traceability of camellia oil origin. Our research showed that stable isotope and mineral element characteristics were efficient indicators for identifying the geographic origin of camellia oil, helping to fill the gap in the identification of camellia oil origin in China.

Competitive adaptive reweighted sampling assisted partial least square analysis of excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopic data sets of certain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

Keshav Kumar

Summary: Excitation-emission matrix fluorescence (EEMF) spectroscopy is a simple and sensitive analytical technique that requires chemometric techniques like partial least square (PLS) analysis to build robust calibration models. The objective of the PLS algorithm is to explain maximum variation of the spectral and concentration data matrices and to maximize the correlation between them. The application of a suitable variable selection technique can significantly improve the performance of PLS calibration model.
