Highly efficient bacteria-infected diabetic wound healing employing a melanin-reinforced biopolymer hydrogel

Yajing Xiang et al.

Summary: A hydrogel (GCM) wound dressing loaded with melanin nanoparticles in a polysaccharide matrix has been developed for efficient healing of bacterially infected diabetic wounds. The GCM hydrogel can rapidly stop bleeding, neutralize inflammatory cytokines, and promote the transition from inflammation to wound healing. It also enhances cell proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis, making it a potential treatment option for various bacteria-infected diabetic wounds.

Bioinspired photo-crosslinkable self-assembling peptides with pH-switchable on-off luminescence

Raffaele Pugliese et al.

Summary: Significant progress has been made in peptide self-assembly in the past two decades, but in situ cross-linking of self-assembling peptides is still in its early stages. Inspired by the biological functions of tyrosine, a photo-cross-linking approach was developed for in situ cross-linking a tyrosine-containing SAP, leading to enhanced mechanical stability and unique fluorescence properties mediated by a ruthenium complex.
