Hydrothermally Synthesized Ag@MoS2 Composite for Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production

Anuja A. Yadav et al.

Summary: Photocatalytic hydrogen production is a green and cost-effective technology that can provide clean energy to alleviate the fossil fuel crisis. Designing visible-light-active photocatalyst materials and using noble metals can enhance the efficiency of photocatalysts. This study investigates the synergistic effect of noble co-catalyst Ag on MoS2 for photocatalytic hydrogen production, showing improved visible light absorption and hydrogen production rates. A possible working mechanism of visible-light-driven photocatalytic hydrogen production using the Ag@MoS2 composite is proposed.

Plasmonic Metal/Semiconductor Heterostructure for Visible Light-Enhanced H2 Production

Shomaila Khanam et al.

Summary: A plasmonic Ag/Bi2WO6 heterostructure with enhanced visible light absorption and improved photocatalytic activity has been successfully synthesized. The introduction of Ag nanoparticles onto Bi2WO6 resulted in localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) and increased photoabsorption. The Ag/Bi2WO6 heterostructure showed excellent plasmon-enhanced photocatalytic activity, almost eight times higher than sole Bi2WO6 nanosheets. The enhancement is attributed to the synergetic effect between Ag nanoparticles and emerging W5+ ions.

Highly sensitively detecting tetramethylthiuram disulfide based on synergistic contribution of metal and semiconductor in stable Ag/TiO2 core-shell SERS substrates

Jie Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, Ag/TiO2 core-shell nanoparticles were successfully synthesized for SERS detection of TMTD, showing a good linear relationship and low detection limit. The protective TiO2 shell enhances SERS signal by preserving SS bonds intact.

Extremely sensitive and reusable surface-enhanced Raman scattering substrate based on 3D Ag-titanium dioxide nanowires

Tianze Cong et al.

Summary: A three-dimensional SERS substrate has been obtained by assembling Ag nanoparticles onto multilayered TiO2 nanowires, exhibiting high sensitivity and strong adsorption capability for probe molecules, as well as recyclability. The 3D network structure and nanogaps of TiO2 nanowires contribute to the performance enhancement of the substrate, making it suitable for ultrasensitive chemical and biological molecule detection.

Modulating Mechanism of the LSPR and SERS in Ag/ITO Film: Carrier Density Effect

Bingbing Han et al.

Summary: This study involves the fabrication of a uniform and dispersible Ag/indium tin oxide (ITO) cosputtered film, with distinct localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) properties that can be tuned by changing the doping level. The research explores the influence of carrier density on the properties of Ag/ITO cosputtered films, providing insights into relationships between carrier density, maximum absorption wavelength, band gap distribution, and charge transfer process. Practical applications of these films are suggested based on the findings.
