Phytoestrogens, novel dietary supplements for breast cancer

Shuo Huang et al.

Summary: Endocrine therapy has been effective in treating breast cancer, but it still faces challenges such as drug resistance and individual discrepancy. There is a demand for novel preventive and therapeutic modalities to decrease the incidence and mortality rate of breast cancer. G protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) is a potential target for breast cancer prevention and treatment. This review discusses the possible mechanisms of GPER pathways and proposes the development of phytoestrogens-based dietary supplements against breast cancer.

Therapeutic potential of flavonoids in cancer: ROS-mediated mechanisms

Hasan Slika et al.

Summary: Cancer is a major cause of global morbidity and mortality. Flavonoids are natural polyphenols with established anticancer and antioxidant capacities. They can inhibit carcinogenesis by suppressing reactive oxygen species (ROS), but also induce cancer cell death through excessive oxidative stress. This review explores the antioxidant capacity and pro-oxidant roles of flavonoids, as well as their pathways in cancer prevention and treatment. The review also emphasizes the anticancer functions of specific flavonoids in various cancers and their structure-function relations.

A Review of the Anti-Cancer Potential of Murraya koenigii (Curry Tree) and Its Active Constituents

Aniqa Aniqa et al.

Summary: Murraya koenigii and its constituents show potential in cancer prevention and treatment, targeting various pathways associated with apoptosis, growth, and cell cycle in different cancer cell lines. Further research and clinical trials are warranted to explore its anticancer mechanisms and potential as relatively cheaper cancer drugs for economically weaker cancer patients worldwide.

The role of plant-derived natural antioxidants in reduction of oxidative stress

Behnaz Akbari et al.

Summary: Free radicals are harmful molecules produced during cell metabolism and their levels can be increased by exposure to UV radiation and environmental pollutants. They can cause damage to membranes, enzymes, and DNA, leading to various diseases. Increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables with high antioxidant values can help reduce oxidative stress, and natural products have multiple biological impacts.

Salvadora persica attenuates DMBA-induced mammary cancer through downregulation oxidative stress, estrogen receptor expression and proliferation and augmenting apoptosis

Alaaeldin Ahmed Hamza et al.

Summary: The ethanolic extract of Salvadora persica L. fruits (SP) showed promising chemopreventive potential against DMBA-induced mammary carcinogenesis, suppressing tumor incidence, reducing cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and down-regulating estrogen receptor expression. Additionally, SP extract prevented oxidative damage and induced apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in MCF-7 breast cancer cells.

Extract of Murraya koenigii selectively causes genomic instability by altering redox-status via targeting PI3K/AKT/Nrf2/caspase-3 signaling pathway in human non-small cell lung cancer

Priya Mondal et al.

Summary: Curry leaves are rich in bioactives, especially polyphenols and alkaloids, which have potential anticancer activity against lung cancer. Microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) yields the highest polyphenols from curry leaves with minimum processing time and solvent usage. The extracted compounds function as antioxidants in normal cells and induce apoptosis in cancer cells by altering cellular redox status. MA-CLCE selectively inhibits cell proliferation and induces chromatin condensation and genotoxicity through ROS-induced depolarization of MMP, activating the apoptotic pathway. MA-CLCE also downregulates survival signaling regulator PI3K/AKT and diminishes intracellular antioxidant proficiency by suppressing Nrf-2 expression.

DEEP-LEARNING-EMPOWERED BREAST CANCER AUXILIARY DIAGNOSIS FOR 5GB REMOTE E-HEALTH

Keping Yu et al.

Summary: Breast cancer, the most common cancer in women, lacks high-quality medical resources in remote areas. While remote e-health has improved the situation to some extent, technical limitations, such as network bandwidth constraints and the availability of skilled doctors, hinder its capabilities. The proposed deep learning-based breast cancer auxiliary diagnosis scheme supported by 5G technology aims to overcome these limitations and improve diagnostic accuracy in remote areas.
