Reward-related neural dysfunction in youth with a history of suicidal ideation: The importance of temporal predictability

Summary: Abnormal reward processing is associated with suicide risk. This study compared neural reactivity during anticipation of predictable and unpredictable rewards between youth with and without a history of suicidal ideation. Results showed that youth with suicidal ideation had increased neural activation in the dACC and aINS during anticipation of unpredictable rewards, but no group differences were found during anticipation of predictable rewards.

Type of Trauma Exposure Impacts Neural Reactivity to Errors

Summary: Studies suggest that individuals with a history of trauma exposure may have abnormal reactivity to threat, but previous studies have had inconsistent findings. The current study aimed to examine the impact of trauma type on a specific psychophysiological index of threat sensitivity. The results showed that individuals with non-interpersonal trauma exposure had reduced amplitude in Ne/ERN compared to the other two groups.
