Despite being prescribed multiple antihypertensive drugs, especially women, they still have difficulty achieving blood pressure control, predisposing them to a higher risk of cardiovascular complications and death.

Disparities exist across countries, with some middle-income nations now outperforming high-income countries in hypertension management.
