Universal Statistical Tradeoffs for Shielding Effectiveness Evaluation of Electrically Large Enclosures in Reverberation Chambers

Peng Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the ambiguity in the definition of shielding effectiveness (SE) for internationally recognized standards and explores the potential relationship between SE and electromagnetic resonances. The authors propose a statistical approach to define SE as the ratio of the maxima and averages. Tradeoffs for SE are suggested to be made based on a common criterion, and the results are verified through numerical simulations and measurements in reverberation chambers.

Electromagnetic Simulation of Low-Frequency Magnetic Shielding of a Welded Steel Plate

Shin-ichiro Matsuzawa et al.

Summary: The study found that the shielding effectiveness of welded steel plates decreases with frequency and is closely related to the spacing between spot welds. By analyzing the mechanism of eddy currents, the shielding performance of welded steel plates can be effectively studied and optimized.

Near-Field Scanning-Based Shielding Effectiveness Extraction for Board-Level Shielding Cans

Harsh Shrivastav et al.

Summary: In this study, a method based on near-field scanning is developed to extract the shielding effectiveness of board-level shielding cans, defining SE by modeling shielded noise sources as equivalent dipole moments. The accuracy of the equivalent source is analyzed with least-square error and correlation coefficient as confidence verification parameters. By applying the reciprocity theorem, the voltage coupled on a planar inverted F antenna from unshielded and shielded sources is calculated, with the coupled voltage from a shielded noise source serving as a reference to validate the proposed method's effectiveness using practical shielding cans.
