One-dimensional hierarchical Cu2O@SnS2 heterojunction with enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic activities

Effect of surfactant-assisted hierarchical growth of cupric oxide-hydroxyapatite nanocomposite on the dielectric and electrical transport behavior

Summary: In order to meet the current needs of biomedical applications, nano biomaterials with promising dielectric and transport properties are required. Eco-friendly surfactant-assisted synthesis methods are necessary to properly scale the electrical properties of non-toxic bioceramics. In this study, a cupric oxide-hydroxyapatite nanocomposite (CuO-HAp-PVP) with a crystallite size of 25 nm was successfully synthesized using the Polyvinylpyrrolidone-assisted hydrothermal synthesis method. The nanocomposite exhibited novel flower-like aggregation and improved dielectric behavior and ionic conductivity.

Development of high-performance bi-functional novel CdSnS2 atom clusters for adsorption of rose Bengal and AOP-assisted degradation of methylene blue

Green and environmentally sustainable fabrication of SnS2 quantum dots/chitosan nanocomposite for enhanced photocatalytic performance: Effect of process variables, and water matrices

The crystal structure, surface morphology, and elemental composition of the prepared SnS2 (QDs)/Ch composite were evaluated, and its outstanding photocatalytic activity for CV degradation was demonstrated through the Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP). The fabricated photocatalyst exhibited high stability and reusability, making it a promising visible light-active nano-photocatalyst.

Recent advancements in CaFe2O4-based composite: Properties, synthesis, and multiple applications

Summary: Metal ferrites like nickel ferrite, copper ferrite, zinc ferrite, cobalt ferrite, and other ferrites are commonly used as catalysts in various transformations. However, CaFe2O4, the most abundant alkali metal ferrite, is eco-friendly and non-toxic, and has magnetic properties that facilitate easy recovery from reaction media. It has been extensively used in applications such as dye degradation, heavy metal ion removal, transesterification reaction, gas sensing, photocatalytic water splitting, and drug delivery. This review discusses the magnetic properties and crystal structure of spinal CaFe2O4, its potential applications, various synthesis techniques, and its remarkable potential for energy and environmental remediation. The review also includes the photocatalytic mechanism of various pollutants and provides future perspectives for developing novel, sustainable CaFe2O4 or CaFe2O4-based nanocomposites.

Novel Zn(II)-imidazolate polymorph MOF loaded with Mo-QD clusters for solar light-driven H2O2-assisted synergistic photosensitized degradation of gentian violet

Summary: A novel molybdenum-incorporated Zn(II)-imidazolate-based metal-organic framework polymorph material was fabricated as an effective photocatalyst for the removal of gentian violet from water. The material exhibited a nearly complete degradation of gentian violet under solar irradiation within 30 min. The photodegradation followed pseudo-first-order kinetics with a high reaction rate constant. The Mo@ZIF polymorph photocatalyst showed good recyclability and potential for solar energy harvesting and environmental remediation.

CdIn2S4-based advanced composite materials: Structure, properties, and applications in environment and energy - A concise review

Summary: Recently, ternary metal chalcogenides, especially CdIn2S4 (CIS), have gained significant attention as excellent materials for energy generation and environmental remediation. CIS is a highly efficient, low-cost photocatalyst with superior visible light absorption, thanks to its chemical stability, ease of synthesis, and tunable band gap. Various modifications, such as element doping, co-catalyst deposition, and heterojunction construction, have been used to enhance the catalytic performance of CIS, making it suitable for applications in CO2 reduction, environmental remediation, photocatalytic organic transformations, photoelectrochemical, and H-2 production by water spilling. Challenges and future perspectives for the further development of CdIn2S4 for energy and environmental applications are also discussed in this review.

Characterization and investigation of biological properties of silver nanoparticle-doped hydroxyapatite-based surfaces on zirconium

Summary: In this study, AgNPs-doped surfaces were produced on zirconium by micro arc oxidation and electrochemical deposition. These surfaces exhibited hydrophilic behaviors and improved bioactivity compared to bare Zr substrate under simulated body fluid conditions. Importantly, the AgNPs-doped surfaces showed antimicrobial activity against E. coli and S. aureus.

Fast photodegradation of rhodamine B and caffeine using ZnO-hydroxyapatite composites under UV-light illumination

The results showed that the composites with high impregnation of zinc oxide exhibited superior photodegradation performance compared to the zinc oxide catalyst alone. Direct Z-scheme construction of g-C3N4 quantum dots / TiO2 nanoflakes for efficient photocatalysis

The direct Z-scheme heterojunctions between g-C3N4 QDs and TiO2 flakes enhanced the charge separation efficiency and light absorption, resulting in excellent photocatalytic performance for hydrogen evolution and RhB degradation. This study demonstrates that rational design of heterojunctions is effective in improving photocatalytic performance.

Summary: A novel quadripartite SnO2@TiO2/ZrTiO4/ZrO2 (STZZ) photocatalyst was prepared using a facile hydrothermal technique and its photocatalytic activity was tested for metronidazole (MNZ) photodegradation under UV irradiation in water. The effects of photocatalyst type, pH, photocatalyst dosage, and MNZ initial concentration on the photodegradation of MNZ were evaluated. The results showed that the optimal degradation of MNZ was achieved using STZZ photocatalyst at pH=6.5, with a photocatalyst dosage of 0.07 g L-1 and MNZ concentration of 20 mg L-1.
