Sulfonamide derived Schiff base Mn (II), Co (II), and Ni (II) complexes: Crystal structures, density functional theory and Hirshfeld surface analysis

Shehnaz et al.

Summary: Three transition metal complexes of a ligand were synthesized and characterized by various analytical methods. The crystal structures of the complexes were determined using X-ray crystallography, confirming their distorted octahedral coordination. Non-covalent interactions and crystal packing interactions were investigated. The synthesized metal complexes were found to be non-electrolytic and the ligand acted as a bidentate ligand. Density functional theory studies provided insights into the structural characteristics and reactivity of the complexes. The most stable complex was found to have the highest stabilization energy and a large HOMO-LUMO gap.

Efficient Synthesis of Imine-Carboxylic Acid Functionalized Compounds: Single Crystal, Hirshfeld Surface and Quantum Chemical Exploration

Muhammad Nawaz Tahir et al.

Summary: Two aminobenzoic acid based crystalline imines (HMBA and DHBA) were synthesized and their structures were determined through single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The stability of their super molecular structures was achieved through intramolecular H-bonding and intermolecular attractive forces. Comparative analysis of non-covalent forces in HMBA and DHBA was performed, and quantum chemical calculations were conducted. FMOs, MEP, NBOs, GRPs, and NPA analyses were carried out, showing a smaller E-gap and efficient intramolecular charge transfer in HMBA.

Synthesis, Characterization, Crystal Structures, and Supramolecular Assembly of Copper Complexes Derived from Nitroterephthalic Acid along with Hirshfeld Surface Analysis and Quantum Chemical Studies

Seadat Suliddin Hasanova et al.

Summary: Two new Cu(II) carboxylate complexes, Cu-NTA and Cu-DNTA, were synthesized by reacting 2-nitroterephthalic acid with CuSO4 center dot 5H2O at room temperature. The synthesized complexes were characterized using elemental (CHN), FT-IR, and thermogravimetric analysis. The crystal structures of the complexes were explored through single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, which revealed slightly distorted octahedral and square pyramidal coordination geometries for Cu-NTA and Cu-DNTA, respectively. The non-covalent interactions in the supramolecular assembly were investigated using Hirshfeld surface analysis for both complexes. Quantum chemical computations were performed to optimize the molecular geometry of Cu-NTA and to evaluate its linear and nonlinear optical properties.

Summary: In this study, mononuclear complexes of oxicam precursor with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) metal ions were successfully prepared. Various techniques were used to confirm the synthesis of transition metal complexes, including UV/Vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR spectroscopies, elemental analysis, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The coordination geometry of the Cu(II) complex 5 was determined to be square planar based on XRD analysis. The compounds showed potential for COX-I and COX-II inhibition, indicating their potential anti-inflammatory properties.
