Synchronization or cluster synchronization in coupled Van der Pol oscillators networks with different topological types

Wang Shuai et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the mechanism of synchronization or cluster synchronization in coupled van der Pol oscillator networks using the theory of rotating periodic solutions. Synchronous solutions are transformed into rotating periodic solutions, and by analyzing bifurcations, critical conditions for synchronization are determined in different networks. The use of rotating periodic matrices helps identify various types of synchronization phenomena and the impact of symmetry on synchronization outcomes across networks.

Matryoshka and disjoint cluster synchronization of networks

Amirhossein Nazerian et al.

Summary: This paper characterizes network synchronizability for cluster synchronization (CS) and distinguishes between networks with intertwined clusters and no intertwined clusters. It proposes definitions based on the synchronizability of individual clusters and attempts to generalize to the entire network with different cases for cluster synchronization stability.

Periodic Wave Trains in Nonlinear Media: Talbot Revivals, Akhmediev Breathers, and Asymmetry Breaking

Georgi Gary Rozenman et al.

Summary: In this study, we theoretically investigate and experimentally observe the evolution of periodic wave trains using surface gravity water wave packets. For low steepness waves, the waves form a Talbot carpet in the linear regime. By increasing the wave steepness and the corresponding nonlinear response, the waves follow the Akhmediev breather solution, resulting in the disappearance of higher frequency periodic patterns at the fractional Talbot distance.

Pattern formation in a four-ring reaction-diffusion network with heterogeneity

Ian Hunter et al.

Summary: In networks of nonlinear oscillators, symmetries play a crucial role in predicting system dynamics and steady states. However, this theory has not been tested in free-running systems. In this study, a model experimental reaction-diffusion network was developed to test the application of dynamical systems theory with symmetries in self-organizing systems relevant to biology and soft robotics. The experimental results showed some deviations from the predicted states due to imperfections, but overall, there was quantitative agreement between experiment and simulation, highlighting the importance of studying bifurcations along invariant manifolds.

Global Heteroclinic Rebel Dynamics Among Large 2-Clusters in Permutation Equivariant Systems

Bernold Fiedler et al.

Summary: This article investigates equivariant dynamics under the symmetric group SN of all permutations of N elements, focusing on the global dynamics of one-parameter vector fields that commute with the standard real (N - 1)-dimensional irreducible representation of S-N. In particular, the study explores equilibrium cluster solutions involving up to three clusters and the resulting gradient-type global dynamics.
