Novel optical soliton molecules formed in a fiber laser with near-zero net cavity dispersion

Xiao Hu et al.

Summary: This work reports the formation of novel soliton molecules (SMs) in a fiber laser with near-zero group velocity dispersion (ZGVD), involving the binding of bright and dark solitons. These stable bound states are formed due to the incoherent cross-phase modulation of light, resembling multi-atom molecules in chemistry. The research findings offer insights into the dynamics of large SM complexes and may have potential applications in large-capacity transmission and all-optical information storage.

Dissipative-soliton-resonance and evolution in an all-normal dispersion Er-doped fiber laser

Xiaohui Li et al.

Summary: This paper presents an amazing exploration of the generation of dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) in an all-normal dispersion erbium-doped fiber laser based on a real saturable absorber. The study analyzes the principle of DSR and identifies the key role played by the reverse saturable absorption (RSA) effect of the saturable absorber (SA). The impacts of pump power, filter, and RSA coefficient on DSR pulse generation are investigated. Additionally, a novel soliton explosion phenomenon based on RSA in the DSR region is observed for the first time when the saturable power of SA is above 25 W and the modulation depth is above 50%. The findings contribute to a better understanding of DSR and its evolution in all-normal dispersion Er-doped fiber lasers, and also provide insights for realizing high stable and high energy pulsed lasers in the telecommunication region.

Hydrazone organics with third-order nonlinear optical effect for femtosecond pulse generation and control in the L-band

Chenxi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on dissipative soliton pulses generated by a nonlinear photonics absorption device based on hydrazone organics, compressing the pulses to near the transformation limit through dispersion control. Experimental results demonstrate that the transport properties of dissipative solitons are different from traditional optical pulses, and additional anomalous dispersion fibers can produce dissipative noise-like soliton pulses.

Chenxi Zhang et al.

Summary: Hydrazone organic compounds with strong conjugation effects exhibit superior characteristics such as high nonlinear optical sensitivity, short response times, unique electronic spectra, and photothermal stability. By applying Hydrazone-1 to an erbium-doped fiber laser, a 922 fs traditional soliton mode-locked pulse was obtained and five bound-state soliton molecules were observed for the first time. These experiments demonstrate the strong optical properties of hydrazone compounds, indicating their potential as ultrashort pulse light sources with further research and exploration.
