This essay investigates the relationship between Dante's Divina Commedia and the world of preaching, focusing on the comparison found in Purgatorio xxxi, 61-63 and the aquatic element in the heaven of the Moon in Paradiso.
This essay is a further investigation into the relationship, possibly interdiscursive rather than intertextual, between Dante and the world of preaching, represented in this case by the Dominican friar preacher Giovanni da San Gimignano. There are two elements in the Divina Commmedia that seem to be suitable for the purpose: a comparison found in Purgatorio xxxi, 61-63 and the aquatic element which is a feature of the heaven of the Moon in the Paradiso.
