Phase Transformation and Zinc Extraction from Zinc Ferrite by Calcium Roasting and Ammonia Leaching Process

Zeqiang Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, CaO was used to degrade zinc ferrite and recover zinc through ammonia leaching. The experimental results demonstrated that the phase transformation of zinc ferrite to zinc oxide and dicalcium ferrite could be achieved completely with the addition of an appropriate amount of CaO. The ammonia leaching tests showed a high zinc leaching rate of approximately 90% under optimal roasting conditions.

Reductive leaching of indium from the neutral leaching residue using oxalic acid in sulfuric acid solution

F. Maddah et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the reductive leaching of indium from indium-bearing zinc ferrite using oxalic acid as a reducer in sulfuric acid solution. The main factors affecting the process rate were evaluated, confirming the efficiency of dissolving indium in the presence of oxalic acid. A kinetic model based on the factors under study is presented.

Reductive leaching of indium from zinc-leached residue using galena as reductant

Yangyang Fan et al.

Summary: A new reductive leaching process using galena as reductant has been developed to achieve extensive leaching of zinc and indium from the indium-bearing zinc-leached residue. A shrinking core model controlled by surface chemical reaction best fitted the leaching process of indium. The apparent activation energy of indium leaching was calculated to be 64 kJ/mol, with reaction orders of -0.34 and 1.47 with respect to particle size and initial H2SO4 concentration, respectively.

Application of zinc ferrite reduction in the extraction of Zn, Ga and In from zinc refinery residue

Vivek Kashyap et al.

Summary: A method to enhance the leaching kinetics of zinc refinery residue (ZRR) with significant impact on the leaching of zinc, gallium, and indium was introduced in the study. Reduction roasting of zinc ferrite (ZF) eased the leaching process, achieving over 90% extraction of the target elements. Characterization of ZRR was conducted using various techniques including LA ICP-MS, SEM, XRD, and automated mineralogy.
