Elastic and structural properties of Mg25Al75 binary metallic glass under different cooling conditions

A. Samiri et al.

Summary: Molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the annealing effect on binary Mg25Al75 metallic glasses with different cooling rates, showing changes in local atomic structures with decreasing cooling rates. Annealing led to variations in elastic constants and moduli, indicating improved elastic behavior and resistance to compression.

An in-depth investigation of the microstructural evolution and dynamic properties of Zr77Rh23 metallic liquids and glasses: A molecular dynamics simulation study

Murat Celtek

Summary: The microstructural evolutions and dynamic properties of the Zr77Rh23 alloy during rapid cooling process were investigated through molecular dynamics simulations. The results show the formation and development of medium-range order (MRO) in the alloy, and that Zr atoms have higher mobility than Rh atoms.

Molecular dynamics simulation of minor Zr addition on short and medium-range orders of Cu-Zr metallic glass

Xianying Cao et al.

Summary: The compositional dependence of atomic structure and glass-forming ability (GFA) in Cu-Zr alloys was studied using molecular dynamics simulations. The addition of Zr enhances the short-range order of icosahedra and leads to more stable, compact, and complex structures, resulting in improved GFA. The five-fold symmetry governs the formation of the amorphous state and may indicate the formation of the glassy state during cooling. These findings contribute to the understanding of GFA in CuZr alloys.

Tuning of mechanical properties of Tantalum-based metallic glasses

A. Khmich et al.

Summary: Metallic glasses exhibit high mechanical performance but are usually brittle. Reinforcement of the metallic glass matrix to form composite materials is necessary for improved ductility and toughness. Molecular dynamics simulations can provide insights into the effects of adding Ta and W monocrystalline fibers on the mechanical properties of metallic glasses.
