Effect of locking mode on mechanical properties and failure behavior of CFRP/Al electromagnetic riveted joint

Hao Jiang et al.

Summary: This study investigated three ways of joining CFRP and Al sheets using EMR, and studied the deformation characteristics, mechanical properties, and failure behavior of the joints in different locking modes. The results indicated that the locking mode and discharge energy significantly affected the performance of the joint, and each joint had its own characteristics, providing guidance for selecting the appropriate locking mode based on actual requirements.

Mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of galvanized steel/Al dissimilar joints

Hao Jiang et al.

Summary: This study compared the mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of different joints in a salt-spray environment. Results showed that single riveted joint had better corrosion resistance in the short term, while adhesive and hybrid joints were more affected by chloride ions, leading to reduced joint strength.

Friction forge riveting of AA6061-T6 and TA2 plates with large diameter TA2 titanium rivets

Ruiyang Ni et al.

Summary: A new riveting process of friction forge riveting (FFR) was proposed to connect 6061-T6 aluminum alloy and TA2 titanium successfully. The study found that with the increase of rotating speed, the volume of driven rivet head increases, the hardness of the joint shows an annular distribution, and an adiabatic shear band (ASB) is formed, experiencing two times of fracture successively in tensile shear tests.
