Rapid Detection of SARS-CoV-2 Antigens and Antibodies Using OFET Biosensors Based on a Soft and Stretchable Semiconducting Polymer

Kristina Ditte et al.

Summary: During the COVID-19 pandemic, a quick and effective solution is required for fast screening of large groups. Researchers have developed an organic field-effect transistor (OFET)-based biosensing device that can detect both SARS-CoV-2 antigens and anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in less than 20 minutes. The device utilizes a stretchable and semiconducting triblock copolymer (TBC) film functionalized with specific antibodies or receptor-binding domains for the detection of the virus and antibodies. This innovative biosensor has high sensitivity and the potential for low-cost wearable or on-skin diagnostic platforms.
