Observer-Based Composite Adaptive Type-2 Fuzzy Control for PEMFC Air Supply Systems

Yongfu Wang et al.

Summary: In this article, a composite adaptive type-2 fuzzy controller is proposed for improving the performance of PEMFC air supply systems. The high-gain observer is used to estimate the derivatives of the system output. Interval type-2 fuzzy logic systems are employed to approximate the unknown system dynamics, and a disturbance observer is designed to estimate compound disturbance. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed controller are demonstrated through theoretical analysis and numerical simulations.

High-order fully actuated system approaches: Part X. Basics of discrete-time systems

Guangren Duan

Summary: This paper provides a basic introduction to high-order fully actuated (HOFA) approaches for discrete-time systems, discussing different models and controller design, as well as the equivalence between well-known systems and HOFA models. It proposes a generalized step backward HOFA model and demonstrates it with a proposed pseudo feed-forward system, laying a foundation for further analysis and design problems.

High-order fully actuated system approaches: Part I. Models and basic procedure

Guangren Duan

Summary: The state-space approaches have been dominant in systems and control field for over half a century. The paper revisits the concept of high-order fully actuated systems and proposes a basic procedure for controlling nonlinear systems using the HOFA model. The HOFA approach allows for designing controllers to achieve desired eigenstructures and additional system performance. An example demonstrates the effectiveness of this approach.

High-order fully actuated system approaches: Part IV. Adaptive control and high-order backstepping

Guangren Duan

Summary: This paper introduces three types of high-order system models and proposes direct design approaches for adaptive controllers, eliminating the need to convert high-order systems into first-order ones, making the methods more direct and effective. The high-order backstepping methods for second- and high-order SFSs with parametric uncertainties require fewer steps compared to traditional first-order backstepping methods, resulting in savings in design and computation complexity.

High-order fully actuated system approaches: Part III. Robust control and high-order backstepping

Guangren Duan

Summary: This paper introduces three types of uncertain high-order nonlinear models and discusses their relationships. A direct method based on Lyapunov stability theory for designing robust stabilising controllers and robust tracking controllers is proposed. The proposed high-order backstepping methods require fewer steps than the usual first-order backstepping method, making them more direct and simple.

High-order fully-actuated system approaches: Part VI. Disturbance attenuation and decoupling

Guangren Duan

Summary: This paper introduces two types of high-order fully actuated (HOFA) system models subject to external disturbances, and discusses approaches for disturbance attenuation via state feedback and asymptotic disturbance decoupling via output feedback. By utilizing the full-actuation feature of HOFA systems, controllers are conveniently designed to achieve constant linear closed-loop systems with designed disturbance rejection properties. Additionally, parameter approaches are used to handle additional performance requirements on the closed-loop systems.

High-order fully actuated system approaches: Part V. Robust adaptive control

Guangren Duan

Summary: A direct approach for the designs of robust adaptive stabilising controllers and robust adaptive tracking controllers is proposed for high-order fully actuated systems with nonlinear uncertainties and time-varying unknown parameters. The controller consists of three parts to handle known nonlinearities, nonlinear uncertainties, and time-varying unknown parameters, ultimately ensuring global convergence into a bounded ellipsoid for tracking error and parameter estimation error.
