Ratiometric ultrasensitive optical chemisensor film based antibiotic drug for Al(III) and Cu(II) detection

Reham Ali et al.

Summary: A novel ratiometric optical chemisensor film was developed for determining Al(III) and Cu(II) in low concentrations, consisting of antibacterial drug CPFX and reference dye TFPP embedded in a PVC matrix. The film displayed significant fluorescence enhancement for Al(III) and emission quenching for Cu(II), showing high sensitivity and selectivity. The chemisensor film's interference was examined, proving significant selectivity for Al(III) and Cu(II) detection.

Carbon Dots Fluorescence-Based Colorimetric Sensor for Sensitive Detection of Aluminum Ions with a Smartphone

Wei Wei et al.

Summary: Blue emission carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized using naringin as precursor in this study, and were utilized to develop a ratiometric fluorescence sensor for sensitive analysis of Al3+ with high accuracy. The color change of CDs probe from blue to green under UV lamp, combined with smartphone and RGB analysis, allows for visual detection of Al3+ with high sensitivity.

Synthesis of carbon dots for Al3+ sensing in water by fluorescence assay

Xiping Mei et al.

Summary: In this study, carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized from Eucommia ulmoides leaves using a hydrothermal technique, resulting in nanomaterial with excellent stability and strong fluorescence emission. The fluorescence signals of the CDs solution were enhanced by aluminum ion in a neutral buffer solution, with a linear correlation to the Al3+ content in the range of 0.01-2.5 mM. The method showed fast and sensitive response with a detection limit of 23 nM, making the CDs a successful sensor for trace Al3+ determination in water samples.

Rapid prototyping of cell culture microdevices using parylene-coated 3D prints

Brian J. O'Grady et al.

Summary: Depositing a thin layer of parylene on 3D printed models allows them to be used as master molds for elastomeric device fabrication, making the prints biocompatible. Uncoated 3D prints can release toxic materials causing cell death, while parylene-coated prints can maintain cell viability and healthy morphology. This technique is simple and applicable for traditional microdevice fabrication and rapid prototyping of new designs.
