Dual strategies for solving the Stokes problem with stick-slip boundary conditions in 3D

Jaroslav Haslinger et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the numerical realization of 3D Stokes flow with threshold slip boundary conditions using a mixed finite element method to approximate the inequality problem. Multiple Lagrange multipliers are introduced to handle the non-smooth system, and the problem is solved using either a path following variant of the interior point method or the semi-smooth Newton method. The numerical scalability is demonstrated through computational experiments.
